List of Universities or Colleges in Canada That Accept WASSCE (WAEC) Results
One problem students from Africa face when trying to apply for a foreign school in Europe or North America is using their secondary school results. Some foreign universities do not accept the senior secondary leaving certificate of African countries probably because of the belief it doesn‘t meet the standard of their education. They then make interested applicants write exams of the university’s standard before they can process their admission application.
If you’re a student from Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia interested in studying in Canada, then you can do so with a West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result seeing it has the same pattern of the British system of education.
If you have a WAEC result and want to apply to universities or colleges for first year admission in Canada, below are some universities that will accept your result.
The University of Winnipeg
The University of Winnipeg is popularly known as the cultural cradle of Canada. Over 600 international students from over 68 countries attend this university.
Students who have their WAEC results can apply for an undergraduate degree program at this university. You will need to send them the copy of the certificate result and the scratch card which contains the serial and pin number for online registration.
There is also no need for proof of English for students from Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia and Sierra Leone. Click on this link to begin your application: https://www.uwinnipeg.ca/future-student/international/countries-a-to-z/-n-.html
The University of Toronto
Another University that accepts WAEC result is the U of T which is one of the best universities in Canada and the world. Students who have written the WAEC exams can apply for admission into the university. So, having competitive documents like a good A- level results, etc. can help your application stand out.
