Nov / Dec 2015 WASSCE Results Released
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) released the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result for May / June 2015. Recently, it has also released the WASSCE result for those who wrote the examination during November / December (Nov /Dec) 2015, as the exam is written 2 times a year.
Performance in Nigeria
On the 17th of December, Mr. Olutise Isaac Adenipekun, head of the WEAC Nigeria Nation office of released a few statistics about the examination.
According to him:
- A total of 237,154 candidates sat for the examination, which constitutes 124,512 male and 112,642 female candidates.
- The results of 1,612 candidates (0.68%) are still being processed because of some errors.
- 79,490 candidates, representing 33.51% obtained 6 credits and above.
- 113,573 candidates, representing 47.88% obtained 5 credits.
- 175,718 candidates, representing 74.09% obtained credits and above in 3 subjects.
- Results of 28,768 candidates, representing 12.13%, are being withheld for further investigation in connection with examination malpractice.
Mr Olutise however declined to announce the statistics of those that passed English and Mathematics. He argued that the Nov / Dec WASSCE is for private candidates who need few subjects credited to make up their results.
Performance in Ghana
Rev. Sam Nii Nmai Ollennu, head of WAEC Ghana released some statistics about the examination in Ghana. According to him: results from 810 schools are withheld due to widespread examination malpractices.

Does it mean that if students enter for eight subjects in Private WASCE even if those students do well they will not be allowed to pass?
No Artina. They can’t give the statistics of those that pass the Nov/Dec because not all students get to write 8/9 subjects.
