10 Well Paying But Less Competitive Jobs (2013)

However, it might surprise to you to know that some employers are having a hard time finding the right people to fill open positions. According to research by Career Builder, over 30 percent of hiring managers have positions that have remained vacant for over 10 weeks or longer.
This is because some jobs often require workers with specialised skills, and there aren’t enough workers with those skills to fill the gaps in employment.
With the help of the Economic Modelling Specialists Inc (EMSI), CareerBuilder asked employers to identify the hardest-to-fill positions within their organisations that stay open 12 weeks or longer. EMSI collected the data of the corresponding growth and the new jobs added since 2010 from over 90 federal and state sources. These open job positions present good opportunities for job seekers or those who are open to a career change.
Below is a list of well paying but less competitive jobs.
- Sales representative percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 3.8%
- Machine operator/assembler/production worker percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 9.9%
- Truck driver percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 5%
- Nurse percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 6.7%
- Software developer percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 11.2%
- Engineer percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 4.9%
- Marketing professional percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 11.3%
- Accountant percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 4.5%
- Mechanic percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 4.1%
- IT manager/network administrator percent job percent job growth from 2010 to 2013: 7.5%
